Big week behind the scenes here at Gimme Some Oven HQ — I bought myself a new camera!!!
And oh my goodness, I absolutely love it.
For any of you fellow photography nerds out there, I’ve been shooting with a Canon 6D for the past five years, which has been great. But I’ve been hearing rave reviews over the past few months from some friends who’ve been using the Canon 5D Mark IV — specifically about its awesomeness with shooting video (hello, new YouTube channel), shooting in low light (hello, depressingly-gray and cloudy Kansas City winter), and ease of use (hello, slick new touchscreen). So after saving up for awhile, I finally decided to take the plunge. And now, I totally feel like that kid at Christmas who doesn’t want to do anything else except play with her new toy. ;)
It’s made photography so much more fun!!! Which is great, since I usually spend a serious amount of quality time with my camera each week.
Anyway, in transitioning things over to the new camera this week, I took the opportunity to go back through the thousands of files still sitting on my old camera memory card. And sure enough, found a few gems that I apparently missed sharing with you over the past few months. So before we move onto new camera photos, I wanted to share with you this oldie but goodie:
This yummy raspberry smoothie.

It’s a super simple one, but I love it. It includes lots and lots of frozen raspberries (or any berries that you’d like), a frozen banana, my favorite creamy protein-packed ingredients (Greek yogurt and almond milk). Then I add in the three (also protein-packed) ingredients that I add to just about any smoothie nowadays — bee pollen, hemp seeds, and chia.

Just blend everything together…

…and within just a few minutes, this creamy, sweet, fruity, and totally delightful smoothie will be yours to enjoy. If you think that it needs to be sweeter (since those raspberries can be tart!), feel free to blend in a little extra honey. But otherwise, hope you enjoy it! :)

- optional: 1-2 tablespoons of honey to sweeten, if needed
Instructions

Hi Ali! Are you going to be posting a recap of your Barcelona trip? My husband and I are going to Spain in September and would love to read all about your trip. :)
That smoothie looks as delicious as it does beautiful! I can’t wait to make it! Quick question about the new camera, I was reading some reviews and there was one person imparticular that said the video side of the camera was a major disappointment. What are your quick thoughts on that? Is it performing how you need it to? Thanks so much! I had your ginger pineapple stir fry this week and it was amazing!
Looks delicious! We have smoothies a few times a week, so I love to mix it up. I usually add chia seeds and/or flax meal but I’ve never added hemp seeds or bee pollen. Are the nutritional qualities the same? I’ll have to give them a try.
Thanks, Jennifer — we hope you enjoy it! Hemp seeds and bee pollen both have a wealth of health benefits, but they do differ. You can read about them here and here. :)
Sounds so delish; I love putting bee pollen and chia seeds in my morning smoothies. I’ve been looking at the Canon 5D Mark IV for months, deciding whether I should get it or not. You’re definitely helping ease that decision!
Thank you, Britt — we hope you can give the smoothie a try sometime soon! :)
Yum! Gorgeous smoothie :)
Yum! This looks so bright and nourishing =)
Thanks, Sara — we hope you enjoy it!
Love this post….and everything on your site! Always love to see your emails come through in my inbox with yummy new recipes. Haven’t tried bee pollen yet, but excited too. Thanks!!
Thanks for your sweet words, Maureen, we’re so happy to hear that! And we hope you love the smoothie. :)
Wow – this looks so good, it definitely looks creamy!

I got the Mark IV a few months ago. IN. LOVEEEEE. The touch screen and video capabilities are a game changer!
I’d love to make this for my family. It already looks really good, hopefully my vegetable and fruit hating Dad will accept it.

Thanks, we hope you enjoy!
