Just like store bought Magic Shell. My kids love it (and so do I)!

  2. Pam says:

We like this magic shell on frozen bananas, and sprinkle with peanuts before the shell hardens.

I love this recipe! I have actually tried several different flavors…cherry, chocolate, vanilla and butterscotch. They are all very yummy. Part of me wishes I would have never found this recipe on Pinterest, but glad I did…I’ve saved so much money making magic shell myself (it never lasts more than 2 weeks in my house though).

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Thanks Mary Jo — and we think those other flavors would be fun to try!

This is such an excellent recipe! I’m obsessed! I have a quick question for you though, do you think I’d be able to make a caramel magic shell with caramel chips and use the same measurements?

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Thanks Jill, we’re happy you like it! And hmmm that’s a good question — we haven’t given that a try, and can’t seem to find any recipes on the Internet, so we’re not sure. However, we say it’s worth giving a go (maybe just try doing half the recipe in case it doesn’t work)?

My husband loves magic shell but hates chocolate. Could I substitute another type of baking chips, or would that not work as well?

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Hey Leah, you could totally try butterscotch chips!

  6. Jen says:

That looks awesome! I’m actually going to try it a different way, though I can’t say that I’ll have very good results. I’m going to try it with Nutella as a substitute for the chocolate chips, just because I don’t have any in the house at the moment

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Oooh, we think trying it with Nutella sounds like a fabulous (and yummy) idea! Let us know how it turned out!

      Thanks, Susie! : )

Made this tonight with vegetable oil and semi-sweet chips.  Yummy!! Kids loved it.

Awesome Lauren, glad they were a hit!

  9. Debra says:

I’ve made this for over 30 years with butter instead of coconut oil.  I like this idea and am eager to give it a try.  It’s great to use for desserts.

Wow, so good. Thanks so much.
