Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie Recipe | gimmesomeoven.com

So, pretty sure I saw a massive bag of over-ripe bananas on sale at the store last week for $0.88 and bought…

…TWO bags.

Oh yes. I’ve been going a bit “bananas” this week trying to work them into all sorts of recipes. So keep your eyes “peeled” for some stellar banana baked goods coming soon. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)  ;)

But anytime I have good bananas in the house, I can’t resist making one of my favorite protein-rich treats for breakfast — this Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie! I posted a version of this back in the early early days of the blog, and then deleted it because the photos looked unbelievably unappetizing. But I’ve tweaked the recipe since then and updated the photos. And lemme tell ya — this is a darn good smoothie.

It’s easy to make, full of all sorts of delicious and healthy and protein-rich ingredients, and it’s the perfect use for ripe or overripe bananas. So tap into your inner Curious George and give it a go…

Let’s start with the ingredients. No big surprises here — just some Greek yogurt, milk (any kind), vanilla, ice and of course the peanut butter and banana.  I also usually add in some flax seed and/or chia seeds nowadays, but do what you wish.

I don’t personally care for almond milk. Can I use regular milk for this recipe?

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Yes, you can use whatever kind of milk you like! We hope you enjoy the smoothie! :)

Hey! I love this smoothie!!! You can also add some kale in it because it doesn’t change the flavor or texture, but you can sneak in some healthy greens in there. Also you can eat banana peel. Just cut the banana in half through in both sides with the the peel. This gives it more of a banana taste and also provides you with all of the vitamins that banana peels have in them. It’s is my go-to smoothie!!

    1. Hayley @ Gimme Some Oven says:

Thanks for sharing Emily, we bet kale would be awesome in this! We’re happy you like the smoothie! :)

Hi, does anyone out there know how to adjust this for a nutribullet I tried to make this and ended up with quite a few ice shavings still intact and even a couple of lumpy banana pieces that weren’t blended.

Also, if anyone with diabetes is out there, is this ok for diabetics?

Hi! I love the recipe but does anyone have any tips for making it vegan? Is there a simple vegan substitution that I can use instead of yogurt? I do have soy yogurt but I don’t know if that jump is too big or if it will change the consistency? Thanks!

I put wheatgrass powder in this smoothly since I tried so many other ways to mask the horrible taste .  I cannot get over how hood this smoothy tastes even with the wheatgrass. I am going to have this every day… It is so filling, healthy and tasty. I didn’t try freezing the bananas but am going to do that too!! That’s so much for posting this smoothy… Although mine doesn’t look as good.. It is very green!

      Awesome, glad to hear it!
