Many of you longtime followers know that I’m not a big believer in “recipes” when it comes to smoothies. My method of choice is always “a little of this, a little of that”, usually based on whatever fresh produce happens to be hanging around my house.

But a smoothie I made this week happened to be exceptionally tasty. So I decided to snap a quick pic and share it with you all.

It’s basically a simple pineapple smoothie, featuring some healthy Greek yogurt, banana, and my favorite smoothie ingredient — fresh ginger! All in all a delicious, light, and wonderfully fresh tasting citrus smoothie. Feel free to substitute in your favorite citrus fruits, but I happen to be partial to my beloved piña. So pineapple it is for me! Enjoy!!

Pretty good, got this off of pinterest. I skipped the ginger since I am not a fan and used water instead of pineapple juice since I didn’t have any. And, I must say I will make this again. Maybe I will try with juice next time to see if I get a little more flavor. Think I am going to start making smoothies at home now, now that I have a recipe to follow :)

What do you think of using coconut water as a substitute for the pineapple juice or regular water?

Found this on Pinterest. Interesting recipe! I recently made a pinapple smoothie with Almond Milk and a sprig of mint. No sweetener, no nonsense, just those 3 ingredients. Amazing! Ginger is so delicious too. Thanks for sharing :)

Looks delicious! When I lived in Ghana (West Africa), I could always buy fresh pineapple ginger juice from the corner store. This brings back such good memories!

Another idea for dairy avoiders–try unsweetened coconut milk instead of yogurt. : ) Tasty recipe, thanks!

Doesn’t the banana overpower the whole thing? I love me some banana in my smoothies, but usually if I use one, no matter what else I add…it’s a banana smoothie. Does pineapple somehow hold it’s own here?

      Hi there,
I had the same question, Geoff ! I like pineapple and ginger but often find that banana overwhelms and my smoothies end up skewed toward that flavor. Have you dared to try this recipe?

      Cheers,
      Anne
